We could also disable lxqt-runner. It is more powerfull that the menu search, but it takes 16Mb according to qps and most of the functionality (search by name) is done by the menu search also.

but if this is made with patches, this patches will affect all *ubuntu users.

Created a bug with the problmes I have seen https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lubuntu-default-settings/+bug/1841331
I think is a problems of which starts/end to load first after the XDG change in lxqt-globalkeys.

Thanks to @teward I could fix the override of lintian for binary. In /debian created a file called <package>.linitian-overrides

@wxl changed your previous unreleased to eoan, is it ok?
right, here it is for system-config-printer
Looks good except for the changelog. Seems like somehow you throttled over my last commit.NOTE: I added the task to the description so it will autoclose as aforementioned.

in case of skanlite, the .desktop is set in the code from kde. https://cgit.kde.org/skanlite.git/tree/src/org.kde.skanlite.desktop
Should we contact them or the debian packager?
Or another option?
ok, will do
there also need to be changed globalkeyshortcuts to open screengrab instead of "lximage-qt -s" @The_LoudSpeaker, but only when we update meta
Question, the .desktop in usr/share/applications/ is from us or from lxqt team?
the script can be used as a starting point if someone wants to do something. But I use xrandr to get the actual dimensions of the screen I believe that it is not generic.
@wxl unfortunattely the whole .desktop files is "replaced" so all the entries need to be there, and yes, we would have to track the changes.
@tsimonq2 I have only talk to papirus icon usptream they said those icons are used in some filemanager so they need to be monochrome (it doesn't pcmanfm-qt).
We could try to talk to every application and tried them to change the Icon entry in their code.
The most important to me are skanlite, system-config-printer and about-lxqt.

waiting for upload in https://phab.lubuntu.me/D28
Here it is for you to approve
nm-tray sbuild gave me a lintian warn because it doesn't have manpage, what should I do?
nm-tray doesn't have one now, nor has a help

puting the .desktops in /usr/share/Lubuntu/applications/ worked!! (XDG_DATA_DIRS/applications/)
Here are all the .desktop I modified in a zip. Could you please tell me what you think before uploading them?
ok, so how should I do it.
1.- Create a new ppa from scratch cloning repo, adding /debian/... etc...
2.- Should I use our repository https://phab.lubuntu.me/source/nm-tray/ somehow? I was thinking something like change the watcher...
Aug 8 2019
mmm, I thought there was xdg for that, like xdg/autostart, but apparently it isn't...
Aug 7 2019
But we should put big disclaimer that on less than 1Gb you should disable compton, qlipper and lxqt-runner and if printer is not used also printer-applet.
I also use it on virtualmachines and disable qlipper and compton.
~350Mb is RAM consumption right after first login. One could get around ~300Mb disabling Qlipper, Compton, Printer Applet. Maybe one could disable lxqt-runner (since lxde doesn't have one).
Main problem are current web pages and browsers which are extremely resource hungry (facebook, gmail are a good example).
So, less than 1Gb RAM shouldn't be an option.
Does we have problem with this? At least in my bare metal (old) is working ok.
Not sure what you mean.
But one thing that might be usefull is to put in build-depend flake8. I've seen that in some debian/control files they put pyflakes, we could put flake8.
apparently they will add it in the new release
So, papirus won't make the change because this "devices" (scanner, printer, desktop) icons in 16x16 are sometimes used in file manager.
So we have to fix it on our own.
The easiest solution is to crete the same .desktop via xdg in ~/.local/share/applications but with different icons.
Those .desktop override the ones in /usr/share/applications.

you want to put it 19.04? Or we need and SRU for 19.10?
Should we wait to agaida to put it in sid?
Jul 31 2019
So, I created an issue in papirus-icon-theme:
and found this we could put in our whislist

How is this revert done? Doesn't exist an "undo" action for doing it?
I don't even know how to search for it, "fork ahead"?

Jul 26 2019
Ealing this as info. I tried all the combinatiosn I figured out in https://specifications.freedesktop.org/icon-theme-spec/icon-theme-spec-latest.html
none wroked for me to change lxqt-about icon.
The only that worked at this moment is putting a .desktop in ./local/share/applications that uses another icon
Jul 25 2019
we could via xdg put the modified .desktops in ~/.local/share/applications they prevale over the ones in user/share/applications so we don't modify the icons for the other versions.
yup, beggining of august, could we create an alarm?
I agree with your proposition, nm-tray with nmtui as default, but living network-manager-gnome for more complicated things.
Jul 24 2019
If we go with the nmtui solution, network-manager would still be usefull.
nm-connection-editor (from network-manager-gnome) already has an entry in the menu. Preferences->Advanced Network Configuration.
I understand your concern, maybe we could leave nmcli (as default) and add network-manager-gnome. So users when tray to edit connections with nm-tray will open nmcli, but they stilll can open network-manager-gnome.
And we could change the default with a post-install script, or not, if we decide to be more anti-gtk purist.
the link you provided for vpn with nmcli needs to install network-manager-gnome.
For me, main problem is that nmcli does NOT support VPN, so, to use VPN network-manager-gnome (plus teh required NPN packages) should be installed.
EDIT: This comment is before I read the discussion about the posibility of reverting nm-tray editor change
Jul 20 2019
So, I wanted to change debian/control to add network-manager-gnome as recommended and I found out that debian/control for nm-tray is different in sid that in our phab? The difference I'm pointing out is the "depends" on sid there is network-manager and qterminal, in phab none.
Jul 10 2019
I don't get it.
the patch is only for us, right? Or it is for whole ubuntu?

Ctrl+F1 goes to desktop 1, Ctrl+F2 goes to desktop 2, and so on.
Alt+something normally does things in the app you are using at the moment. I.e. Alt opens the menu of the app.
sorry, what wil be done with the weird window tiling? ctrl+alt+arrows? that's now for desktop change, but also ctrl+Fx does that.

Isn't this as easy as adding an entry to etc/fstab ? Does this need to be done by calamares? We could create a post install script that do that.

since it is over 0.4.2 and we are in 0.4.1 and in sid there is already 0.4.2-1 https://packages.debian.org/sid/nm-tray how should we proceed?

I like nature pictures, isn't there some type of license that would let us use some? Creative Commons kind.
Apr 18 2019
I prefer to pass on this, not much time and I don't have problematic machines anymore to test. However, apparently there is a better solution for broadcom than it was before when I had the issue packaged in bcmwl-kernel-source.
Could we seed it?
apparently this(was?) is the ubuntu solution
