could we delete libreoffice-gtk3 in cosmic update? leaving libreoffice-kde5 alone
This is in cosmic-updates, so calling it done.
Mon, Nov 19
on the dark icons issue, there 3 posibilities:
Sun, Nov 18
That can only be done by modifying the bug tags as mentioned on the report.
I have finally bothered to confirm the fix in Cosmic. @tsimonq2 can you get the SRU finished and the fix moved out of proposed?
Fri, Nov 16
Now after the sru libreoffice-gtk3 is no longer needed, libreoffice-kde5 works.

Side note, is everything that is configurable in lxappearance also configurable in lxqt-config-appearance in terms of GTK settings? If not, what can we do about it?

upgraded, beside that now the dropbox says ayomatic(breeze) instead of automatic(tango) it looks the same to me since I was already using breeze icons. But nice!!
Yeah, you'll notice a definite difference regardless. Take a look at Disco.
I'm curious about the test case. If I already changed the icons to Breeze, would the defaukt (Automatic in dropbox) change?
Bouncing to QA because it's ready to test: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libreoffice/+bug/1799001
I installed lxappearance to configure font and font size for gtk app
Nov 4 2018
I don't know whether this helps or not. I installed lxappearance to configure font and font size for gtk apps (in my case: Ubuntu regular 11). Also I created ~/.Xresources with following lines to enable slight hinting in gtk apps

I will see what I can do.... XD

Whoops, this is the right title... 😆

I see you planned on getting a prototype or something similar done for the lubuntu-devel list HTML, is that still on track for tomorrow?

Yes, I agree. Going all dark or all light will make the themeing far more consistent with less room for potential issues.
I believe that the kdegloblas thing is something defined in the breeze theme. I have the gtk2 theme matcher installed (I believe kwin might have installed it) I used a it couple of times, will look at it too.
after a lot of testing (modifying icon svg, try to understand iconthemeconfig.cpp) I haven't completely undertsand the behaivour but:
- Papirus status icons (the ones used in statusnotifier) are mostly monochrome. Given that, most papirus icons are either dark or light.
- Monochrome icons are also used for applications like pcfman-qt (new tab, back, forward, up, refresh)
- This icons can be changed to match theme going either dark or light apparently you can't mixed them (with the exception of nm-tray, don't know why).
- Currently we have a mixture of dark taskbar, light window. So, if we put dark icons, they can be seen in pcmanfm but can not in the taskbar. If we use light icons we can see them in taskbar but not in pcfman-qt.
However, the fix is FTBFS. Someone needs to talk to oSoMoN.
Apparently the SRU exists.
@hmollercl It has to be something in the Lubuntu file. As I have played with other LXQt themes this issue goes away. Using a different icon pack also fixes the issue. @tsimonq2's suggestion to add qt5-style-plugin-gtk2 was very good. one. I now have a dark theme using what is set for the GTK2 theme. Overall, this would give us a lot of theme options for the users.
I still don't know why ~.config/kdeglobals change the color scheme of breeze, but I could strip the file to the attached.
Regarding the dark icons (that don't show well in taskbar) there is flag in lxqt.conf that toogles following color schemes (icon_follow_color_scheme=true) this only changes some of the icons colors, not sure where we can configure which are affected.
In GUI on hover says "KDE color extension for icons theme. XDG->FollowsColorSchemes"

I'm not sure 5x2 was a wise choice…
missed the n't - still in the calibration of my new small screen
Hmm - his blog is also worth a read - i'm to shy to repeat his words, you all know that i never use swear words ...
btw - for god sake - please don't fork anything screensaver-related. Please. And if you still want an own screensaver, please read all rants from jwz first - he is right now the only one who managed it to write a working and secure screensaver for X.
That was a great read and really affirms my support for xscreensaver as it is the most secure solution for a locker. I've seen bugs filed against the other ones we've used, but not it.
Bump, it would be really great to get this done so we can promote the mailing list more.
I'll look into the theming of the lock screen some more.
It worked for me too @hmollercl, it has just made my search look a bit funky. I can live with that for now, while we figure out how to make it an option in Qt widget themes. Unfortunately, it won't let me upload a screenshot.
